Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani said the Israeli government has shown it is not interested in establishing a ceasefire in Gaza and ending its 10-month-old war in the Palestinian territories.

Kanani made the comments at his weekly press briefing on Monday, three days after the latest round of Gaza ceasefire talks concluded in Doha, Qatar.

Finally, the discussion started based on a new proposal. But the Palestinian independence movement Hamas rejected it, saying Israel had added new conditions to the ceasefire in exchange for the release of prisoners of war in Gaza.

In this regard, the Iranian spokesman said, the Israeli government has actually shown that they have no intention of ending the war and establishing a ceasefire. Despite recent negotiations, they continue to attack Gaza and indiscriminately kill Palestinians. The warlord government has not stopped the massacre of the Palestinian people, but has added new conditions to Hamas.

Nasser Kanani said that there is no doubt that there is an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. However, the inaction of the UN Security Council in the face of pressure from the international community, especially the US, has resulted in continued Israeli crimes in the Palestinian territories.

Iran has used all its diplomatic powers to stop the killing machine of the Israeli government over the past few months, the Iranian diplomat said, noting that Iran welcomes any sincere efforts to establish a ceasefire in Gaza and end the brutal crimes of the Israeli government.

Kanani said Iran does not consider the United States a competent mediator for Gaza ceasefire talks because of Washington’s recent performance. Because the country supports the Israeli warlord government and is its accomplice in crime.

He said the United States has repeatedly shown the world that it is not committed to regional peace and security. Instead they are committed to Israel’s security.

The Iranian spokesman claimed that if the United States was determined to help establish a cease-fire in Gaza, it would use its power to stop the Israeli massacre. And Hamas has not seen any positive attitude from the Americans.

However, Kanani said Iran welcomes any good-faith move between the two warring parties regarding the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip.
