Kuwait sends back hundreds of AIDS-infected expatriates

Kuwait has sent back hundreds of AIDS-infected expatriates to their countries, health officials said at the country’s annual AIDS and STD conference.
At the conference, Health Minister Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi emphasized Kuwait’s position as a regional leader in combating the AIDS epidemic.
Kuwait has achieved the 90-90-90 target of UNAIDS. That is, 90 percent of people living with HIV are identified, they are aware of their status and 90 percent are provided with effective treatment.
Ahmed Al-Awadhi said, “As part of the national strategic plan, our next goal is to achieve the 95-95-95 target.” Kuwait is expanding voluntary testing, counseling services. In addition, it is providing state-of-the-art treatment.
The country’s Ministry of Health has opened a third clinic in the Ahmadi Health District to complement the existing facilities at the Public Health Department and the Infectious Diseases Hospital. These clinics provide confidential testing and counseling.
