Indian External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met US Secretary of State Antony Blinken and National Security Advisor Jack Sullivan on a six-day state visit to the US.

Following the meeting, pro-Khalistan protests were witnessed in Washington. Protesters accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government of running a global killing and spying network against Sikhs in Western countries.

Protesters in Washington raised anti-Modi slogans while demanding sanctions and justice for the killing of Sikh activists.

Protesters alleged that Jaishankar supported the targeted and extrajudicial killings of Sikh activists.

The main purpose of his visit was to preserve the alliance between Modi and industrialist Gautam Adani.

According to Hindustan Times, Jaishankar’s visit to the US is seen as very significant before Donald Trump takes office as the US President. Jaishankar may also hold talks with Trump’s team, sources said.

Jaishankar has spoken to Indian consul generals in New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle, Houston, and Atlanta.

Last year, India was charged in the United States with a conspiracy to assassinate pro-Khalistan Sikh leader Gurpatwant Singh Pannun. A person named Nikhil Gupta was formally charged. The United States claims that it has foiled a possible conspiracy to assassinate the Sikh leader in New York.

Nikhil is accused of doing this on the orders of an Indian government official. He has been charged with recruiting mercenaries for the purpose of assassination. In addition, in September this year, a US court summoned India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval in the conspiracy case to assassinate Pannun. Along with this, former chiefs of India’s Research and Analytical Wing (RAW) Samant Goel, Vikram Yadav and Nikhil Gupta were summoned.

Like the US, Canada has also made similar allegations against India. Another Khalistani leader named Hardeep Singh Nijjar was killed there. There is a bitter relationship between the two countries over this.
