Jolani wants to build Syria on the model of Saudi Arabia

Ahmed al-Shara, alias Abu Mohammad Jolani, the head of the country’s rebel organization Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), is planning to build Syria on the model of Saudi Arabia, one of the richest and most influential countries in the Middle East. At the same time, he commented that peace will return to the Middle East since Iran is in trouble after the fall of Assad.
The rebel organization Hayat Tahrir al-Sham has paved the way for a new beginning for Syria with the fall of Bashar al-Assad. Ahmed al-Shara, alias Abu Mohammad Jolani, dreams of turning Syria into another Saudi Arabia. This de facto leader has assured that the dark era of war and violence will never return to Damascus.
In an interview with the Middle East-based media outlet Asharq al-Awsat, he said that Iran is in danger with the fall of Assad. He accused Tehran of using Syrian soil to create a war situation between different Arab countries. And because of this, there is a possibility of a new stability returning to the Middle East.
Although the new Syrian government is now in the hands of an interim government, HTS is at the center of all the country’s decisions. For this reason, the army and security personnel left behind by the Assad government who fled have surrendered their weapons to HTS. They said that the Assad forces’ move was aimed at reaching an agreement with the de facto ruling authorities in Syria.
Meanwhile, several people, including women, were killed in a Turkish drone attack in northeastern Syria on Saturday (December 21). On the same day, a US-backed Kurdish group claimed that Turkish-backed rebels carried out a drone attack on a wheat warehouse in the Syrian city of Kobani.
In addition, a Palestinian media outlet reported that Israel currently occupies about 500 square kilometers of southern Syria. The Israeli army has withdrawn Syrian troops from the mountainous areas of Mount Hermon and the city of Quneitra.
Israeli media reported that Netanyahu’s troops will remain in Syria for a long time. The presence of Israeli troops amid the joy of independence in the new Syria has caused concern among the public.
