A mass grave has been found in Iraq. The remains of about 100 people have been found in it. It is believed that these are people from the Kurdish community.

The mass grave was found on Friday (December 27) in the Tal al-Shaikhia area of Musanna province in southern Iraq. There are also the bodies of Kurdish women and children.

Iraqi officials say that they may have been killed in the 1980s. The killings were most likely carried out on the orders of former Iraqi ruler Saddam Hussein.

Dia Karim, the head of the Iraqi authorities investigating the mass grave, said that it is located about 15-20 kilometers from the main road. An expert team began excavating the grave earlier this month. The remains are being taken elsewhere for forensic examination. Mass graves have been found in this area before. This is the second mass grave.

He added, “The mass grave was discovered after the first layer of soil was removed. The bodies here are of women and children. All of them are wearing Kurdish spring clothes. Since the bodies are still being exhumed, the actual number may increase.”
