Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu fears for the safety of his son Yair, who lives in the United States, amid concerns about Iran’s expected retaliation.
And for this reason, he requested the US government to increase his son’s security.
Al-Mayadeen reported this information on Wednesday, citing Walla, an Israeli media outlet.
Walla reported that 33-year-old Yair Netanyahu has been living in Miami, Florida since April 2023. There, he is protected by Sinbet, the Israeli government’s internal security service, at a cost of about $680,000 a year.
Citing sources close to Netanyahu, Walla reported that Israeli Prime Minister’s Office Director General Yossi Shelley recently approached Sinbet’s Advisory Committee on Personal Security Affairs to review Yair’s security level at Netanyahu’s request. They speculated that the families and assets of Israeli leadership abroad could be targeted as part of Iran’s retaliation.
Sinbet’s advisory committee asked for intelligence to justify increasing Yair’s security.
