New York State Legislature Honors Biplob of Bangladesh for Pioneering Contributions to Climate Journalism

The New York State Legislature has awarded a special honor to Karamot Ullah Biplob of Bangladesh for his unique contributions to climate journalism. On behalf of Erie County Legislator Lawrence J. Dupree, the council’s Asian Advisor, Shahi Chowdhury, presented the honor to journalist Karamot Ullah Biplob on Friday evening in Buffalo.

The New York State Legislature recognized Mr. Biplob for his prominent voice in the international climate change discourse as the Secretary-General of the South Asian Climate Change Journalists Forum (SACCJF). Talha Bakht, known as the “Prince of Buffalo,” and community leader Wasim were present during the official recognition ceremony.
This marks the first time a Bangladeshi journalist has received such an honor for climate journalism in Buffalo. The citation acknowledges Karamot Ullah Biplob as one of the world’s leading climate journalists and emphasizes the United States’ strong support for such efforts that benefit the people.
Asish Gupta, President of the South Asian Climate Change Journalists Forum, and Asaduzzaman Shamrat, Executive President, extended their congratulations to Karamot Ullah Biplob on this significant achievement.
