Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban is visiting Beijing after visiting Kiev and Moscow. His series of tours is being called a mission to restore ‘peace’. Al Arabiyah reported in a report on Monday that Orban will go to Washington after visiting Beijing. However, the Hungarian government has not made any official comment on Orbán’s visit to Washington.

On July 1, Hungary assumed the six-month presidency of the Council of the European Union. As a part of that, the country’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban has gone on a tour in the beginning. The European Commission confirmed last week that it will impose tariffs on imports of Chinese-made electric vehicles. Before that, Orban’s visit to Beijing is considered important.

Orban himself confirmed his arrival in Beijing on social media X (formerly Twitter) on Monday. This is his third visit to a country after Ukraine and Russia for peace talks.
Orban wrote on the X handle, he is visiting China for the ‘Third Peace Mission’ or peace talks.

China is an important force in creating an atmosphere of peace in the Russia-Ukraine war. That’s why I came to Beijing to meet Xi.

The Hungarian leader wants to present himself as a mediator between Russia’s aggression in Ukraine and Western sanctions against Moscow. Orban has always refused to give Western arms to Ukraine. He also has no support for the EU’s policy in Ukraine.

Orban is supporting Donald Trump in the race for the White House in the next US election. Like Trump, he is always discussed for his hardline policies. Orban also met with Trump in Florida in March. However, it is not certain whether Trump will meet again in the upcoming visit to Washington.
