The Associated Press (AP) released satellite images of the damage to the Nevatim Air Base in southern Israel following an Iranian ballistic missile attack.
Last Tuesday night’s attack was carried out as part of Iran’s ‘Operation True Promise-2’. This is the biggest recent attack on Israel.
Satellite images after the attack showed a large hole in the roof of one of the buildings lining the Nevatim base’s main runway, with debris scattered around.
Nevatim Air Base is known as one of Israel’s most important strategic military bases. It housed F-35 fighter jets, Airborne Warning and Control System (AEW&C) aircraft used for espionage and other military equipment.
The Nevatim base is also home to the headquarters of Israel’s Strategic Air Command. It is one of the main bases of the Israeli Air Force. Besides, the Israeli President’s “Wing of Zion” plane is also stationed at this base.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said 90 percent of the ballistic missiles it used in the attack hit the target.
Iran said the attack was in retaliation for an Israeli attack and was carried out as a legitimate defense exercise under international law.
Meanwhile, in addition to the Israeli Nevatim base, the Hatsarim base and the Tel Naf base were also hit by Iranian missiles, CNN confirmed. F-15 fighter jets were mainly kept in these bases.
Video footage also showed two missiles hitting the Mossad headquarters in the capital, Tel Aviv, on Tuesday night.
These missile attacks on Iran are believed to have caused serious damage to Israel’s military installations.
Iran claimed that it carried out the attack in retaliation for the killing of its big brother Hezbollah leader and secretary general Hassan Nasrallah and Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh.
