Turkish First Lady Emin Erdogan called on the world community to ensure a dignified future for children even in war or conflict zones. He urged the international community to take immediate steps to protect children’s rights.
Emin Erdogan said these things in a video message at the fourth Spouses of Leaders Summit held in Kiev.
At that time, Emin Erdogan highlighted the plight of children in war-torn areas such as Ukraine, Syria and Gaza. He said the world will owe it to the future to fight or die for these children.
Addressing a summit focused on ‘child protection’, Emin Erdogan expressed concern over the growing threat to children’s rights in conflict zones. He highlighted the tragic reality that children were being buried without registration and that children’s deaths were being treated as mere casualties of war. The future of humanity flourishes through children, yet today we witness a global lack of protection for their right to life.’
Emin Erdogan drew the attention of world leaders to the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. Emin Erdogan also said in the speech that children are dying every ten minutes and nine out of ten are facing hunger and thirst.
“How can we accept a world where a child says, ‘I’m so tired, I want to die and rest,’ prefers death to life?”
