Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh visited Iran a day after the UN Security Council passed a ceasefire resolution in Gaza. He had a meeting with Iranian officials on Tuesday.
On this day, Hamas leader Ismail Haniya met with Iran’s Supreme Leader and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdullahian.
There, he said, the resolution of the Security Council proved that Israel is in an “unprecedented corner” in the international arena. Israel is now losing political asylum and protection. We saw such a picture in the Security Council on Monday.
Hania said that despite the massive massacre and destruction in Gaza, Zionist Israel has not achieved any of the goals it declared at the beginning of the war last October. Israel is losing global support.
During the meeting, Iran’s supreme leader Khamenei said Iran’s support was, is and will be for the Palestinian people, especially the people of Gaza, who have been subjected to terrible Israeli aggression for the past six months.
Noting that the people of Gaza have shown “historic patience and steadfastness” in the face of the crimes of heavily armed Israeli forces, he said, “their steadfastness has brought glory and honor to Islam and the Muslim world.”
This is Hania’s second visit to Iran since the start of the Hamas-Israel war on October 7.
Iran has been supporting Hamas in the ongoing war with Israel for almost six months. More than 32,000 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza so far in this war.
After a long wait, the UN Security Council passed an emergency ceasefire resolution in the besieged Gaza Strip. The resolution, passed on Monday (March 25), calls for a cease-fire in Gaza as well as the immediate and unconditional release of hostages held by Hamas.
Israel’s closest ally, the United States, abstained from voting on the resolution. However, the remaining 14 countries of the Security Council voted in favor of the resolution.
