Türkiye evacuates 966 civilians by ship from Lebanon. A total of 966 people were evacuated from TCG Bayraktar TCG Sanchaktar Beirut (588 and 378) by two Turkish Navy ships that arrived at the country’s Mersin port on Thursday.
Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Burhanettin Duran and other officials warmly welcomed passengers arriving at Mersin Port.
At that time, Minister Duran said, these ships have delivered about 300 tons of humanitarian aid to Beirut and are ready to do so if more people are needed in the future.
About 1,900 Turkish citizens have applied to be evacuated from Lebanon, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said. On this day, TCG Bayraktar and TCG Sanchaktar rescued 966 people. Among them are 878 citizens of Turkey and 24 citizens of Northern Cyprus.
It should be noted that Israeli forces have been carrying out massive air strikes on Lebanon since September 23. The warring Israeli government claims that this attack is being carried out targeting the armed group Hezbollah.
1,323 people have been killed and more than 3,700 wounded in Lebanon so far in the ongoing attacks by Israeli forces. In addition, more than 1.2 million Lebanese have been displaced.
