The US has chased four Chinese and Russian warplanes out of Alaska’s international airspace. Canada also joined the country.

The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) said in a statement that Chinese and Russian military aircraft were chased away from Alaska’s airspace on Wednesday.

NORAD says the Russian fighter jets were two Tu-95 models. The two Chinese fighter jets were of the PRC H-6 model. Immediately after detection, US and Canadian warplanes chased them.

However, the Chinese and Russian warplanes did not enter US airspace and were not considered a threat, according to NORAD.

Al Jazeera reported in a report that Russia and China sent four warplanes to the US coast of Alaska as part of a joint patrol. After that last Wednesday, the US and Canadian military stopped the planes. US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin gave this information at a press conference on Thursday local time of the country.

In this regard, the Ministry of Defense of Russia said on Thursday that these warplanes of Russia and China went on a joint patrol in the area. The warplanes patrolled the northern Pacific Ocean near Alaska for more than five hours.

On the other hand, a spokesman for China’s Ministry of Defense said that warplanes were sent on strategic joint patrols with Russia in the Bering Sea off the coast of Alaska. Patrols are carried out in accordance with the annual plan of military engagement.
