The US will issue nonimmigrant or visitor visas to over 1 million Indians in 2025. The US Embassy in India said this in a statement on Friday.
The embassy statement said, “We want to continue the trend of 2024 in 2025 as well. Initially, it has been decided to issue visitor visas to over 1 million Indians, this number may increase later.”
The statement also mentioned that a pilot program will be launched soon to increase the number of H-1B visas and to renew the visas of Indians whose H-1B visas in the US have expired.
The number of Indians willing to travel to the US has increased at least 5 times in the last four years. According to government data, more than 2 million Indians visited the US on visitor visas in 2024, which is 26 percent more than the previous year, 2023.
Under US law, visitor visa holders can travel to the United States for a maximum of six months after their first visit. If a visitor stays longer than that, the police can take legal action against them, including revoking their visa.
