Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz has announced that his country will continue the war in the Gaza Strip until the Palestinian independence armed organization Hamas is destroyed. He announced this in a post on social media X on Thursday. Al-Jazeera news

Al-Jazeera, a Qatar-based media outlet, reported that in a post on Israel’s Katz X, Hamas said about the destruction, “There is no other war but this.”

The Palestinian armed group Hamas recently agreed to a ceasefire agreement brokered by the US, Egypt and Qatar. However, Israel did not agree to this agreement. In the meantime, the Israeli forces are conducting an operation in Rafah, Palestine, ignoring the prohibitions of various countries including the United States.

According to the report of the Israel-based media Times of Israel, negotiations were going on with Hamas on the proposal of a three-phase ceasefire agreement. In the first phase of the agreement, Hamas will release 33 hostages alive or dead within 40 days. Those who will be released in this phase are women, children, elderly and sick people. Israel will release 30 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for each hostage.

In the second phase, Hamas will release all remaining hostages within the next 42 days. In return, Israel will release hundreds of Palestinian prisoners. Also, all Israeli troops will be withdrawn from Gaza.

In the third phase of the agreement, the bodies of all those killed or held hostage by Hamas in Israel in October will be handed over to Israel. In return, the bodies of Palestinians who died in captivity in Israel will be handed over.

Israel did not agree to the cease-fire agreement. The country’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the proposal agreed to by Hamas did not meet Israel’s demands.

Israeli forces started attacking Gaza on October 7 last year. 34,600 Palestinians, most of them women and children, have been killed in the seven-month-long attack.
