The Palestinian freedom organization Hamas has welcomed the resolution that was passed by a large vote in the United Nations General Assembly calling for an end to the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories.

In a statement, the organization said, the resolution highlights the international community’s genuine support for the Palestinian nation and its just rights.

The statement said that the Palestinians have the right to establish an independent state with Jerusalem or Al-Quds as its capital, which has been proved once again by this proposal.

The United Nations General Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution on Wednesday night demanding an end to Israeli occupation of the occupied Palestinian territories. A total of 124 countries voted in favor of the resolution. On the other hand, 14 countries, including America, opposed the proposal. 43 countries including Britain, Switzerland, Ukraine, India and Germany abstained from voting.

The UN General Assembly resolution called for the “immediate” withdrawal of troops from Palestinian territories and the dismantling of illegal Jewish settlements.

Hamas thanked the countries that voted in favor of the resolution. At the same time, Hamas called on these countries to put pressure on the fascist Israeli government to stop the genocide in the Gaza Strip.
