Ukraine peace conference is going to be held this month. This conference is scheduled to be held in Switzerland on June 15-16. However, unrest is gradually increasing around this peace conference. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky accused China of trying to derail the conference. Now China has given an official response to that complaint.

“Unfortunately, China is working hard to prevent other countries from attending the peace conference,” Zelenskiy complained at a press conference at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore last Sunday.

But Beijing rejected Zelensky’s accusations, saying that not attending the peace conference does not mean that China does not want peace.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning said at a press conference on Monday (June 3), “Not attending the conference does not mean that China does not support the peace process.” On the contrary, there are some countries who, despite participating in this conference, do not really want the conflict to end.

Explaining why China does not consider it appropriate to attend this peace conference, the spokesperson said, “There is a visible difference between the process of this peace conference and China’s demands.” That is why it is not possible for China to join this conference.

However, if there is a peace conference with the participation of Ukraine and Russia in the future, China will support it.

Incidentally, China is accused of supplying weapons to Russia in the Ukraine-Russia war. However, China has always rejected the allegations.
