Today marks the 300th day of the Israeli occupation of the besieged Gaza Strip. Since October 7 last year, more than 40,000 Palestinians have been killed by the occupying Israeli forces in Gaza and the West Bank. As such, Israeli forces have killed an average of more than 133 people in Palestine every day.
On Friday (August 2), citing the Ministry of Health of Palestine, Al-Jazeera reported that since October 7, the number of Palestinians killed in the Israeli aggression in Gaza is 39,480. At the same time, Israeli forces killed another 594 people in the West Bank. In total, in the last 300 days, Israel has killed 40 thousand 74 people in Palestine.
More than 15,000 children were killed in Gaza. Besides, more than 10,000 Palestinians are still missing. In addition, 91 thousand 128 people were injured in the Israeli aggression in Gaza. Of the 549 killed in the West Bank during the same period, 144 were children. Besides, 5 thousand 350 people were injured in this region.
On the 300th day of the Israeli occupation of Gaza, Palestinian-American citizen and theorist Noura Irakat said, “It is disgusting and shameful that the world has not stopped the worst, most brutal colonial genocide.”
In a post shared on social media, Irakat said, “Israel’s genocide in Gaza has used sophisticated weapons, which have spread diseases in the region, poisoned the soil.” Besides, they also carried out sexual harassment and torture.
Incidentally, on October 7 last year, the Palestinian armed organization Hamas launched a sudden attack across the border of Israel. 1200 Israeli citizens lost their lives in that attack. At that time more than 250 people were taken hostage. Immediately after that attack, Israel launched a massive attack on Gaza.
Hamas and Israel, both sides have attempted to negotiate a cease-fire several times, but ultimately failed to reach a lasting solution. Among them, Ismail Haniya, the political head of Hamas, was killed in an Israeli secret attack.
The Gaza war is no longer confined to Palestine. On behalf of Hamas, the pro-Iranian Hezbollah has been involved in counter-attacks on Israel’s Lebanese border. The armed group has already attacked the occupied Golan Heights. In revenge, Israel attacked Lebanon and killed the top commander of Hezbollah, Fouad Shukr.
