A new type of relationship is becoming popular in the Asian country of Japan. A relationship where there is only pure friendship. No love, no place for physical relations. If you want, you can have sex with a third person. Many people in Japan are getting stuck in such a marriage.
The name of this new marriage is ‘Friendship Marriage’. And married life is not at all like five marriages. In this legally recognized marriage, two people live under one roof. But there is no love for each other. There will be no physical relations either. But can give birth artificially. And the child of this couple will get all the rights like five normal children. After marriage, you can have love or physical relationship with a third person if you want.
According to a report in the South China Morning Post, those involved in these relationships are becoming platonic partners without falling in love or having sex. Japan’s population is 12.4 million. About one percent of them are choosing such a relationship.
Two people in this relationship can freely have relationships with others outside of marriage. Because there is a mutual agreement in this regard. A friendship marriage is an arrangement, like finding a roommate with similar interests, says one who has been in a relationship for three years. I don’t want to be anyone’s girlfriend. But I want to be a good friend. I want someone with whom I can share the same happiness. can chat I can laugh and joke.
This arrangement is not traditional romantic love or marrying a best friend. On the other hand, under this arrangement, couples meet before marriage. They discuss their lives in detail for hours and even days. For example, whether they want to eat together. How will they spend? Who will do the laundry? How to find space for a refrigerator.
An agency that specializes in this is Kalaras. They shared data about this new trend. According to their data, since March 2015, 500 people in Japan have joined such marriages. They have settlements. Some are even raising children in relationships.
Although the relationship is not romantic, about 80 percent of couples in these relationships live happily together, Kalaras said. In many cases some couples even have children together. Although this relationship ends in separation, the advantage is that they are getting policy benefits.
