US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has hinted at sanctions against the International Criminal Court (ICC). According to the report of the British news agency Reuters on Wednesday, he indicated this in view of the request for the issuance of an arrest warrant against the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The ICC plans to issue arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and some top officials over the issue of genocide in Gaza. At that time, Israel opposed it. At the same time, the United States, an ally, also responded on behalf of Israel.

12 US Republican senators also wrote a letter warning Karim Khan, the chief lawyer of the International Criminal Court. However, regardless of all this, the chief lawyer Karim Khan applied to the ICC for the issuance of an arrest warrant on the charges of war crimes.

He requested the issuance of arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yav Galant and three Hamas leaders Haniyeh, Sinwar and Daif.
Netanyahu was very angry.

Unable to accept such a request from the ICC, US President Joe Biden freely criticized the ICC and said that there was no genocide in Gaza. Karim Khan’s decision is wrong. He also said that Israel and Hamas cannot be compared. However, in seven months, more than 35 thousand Palestinians have been killed in Gaza by Israel’s barbaric attacks. Most of them are children.

After this, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken indicated sanctions against the International Criminal Court (ICC) on Tuesday.

He said, ‘He is committed to take action against any wrong decision. Republican senators are pushing for sanctions against ICC officials. He also said that the US Congress may vote on this issue this week.

Although Democrat leader Bernie Sanders supported the ICC’s arrest warrant, he said Israel is committing war crimes in Gaza. Meanwhile, Norway has announced the arrest of Netanyahu as the first country in Europe to issue a warrant for war crimes. France, Belgium and Slovenia supported the request of the Chief Prosecutor to the ICC to issue arrest warrants for Israel and Hamas leaders.
