Jordan’s King Abdullah II dissolved the country’s lower house of parliament on Thursday ahead of new parliamentary elections in September.
The move was announced in a royal court issued by the king.
According to the constitution, parliamentary elections are held within the four months preceding the end of the parliamentary term, which is scheduled to end in November.
New elections will be held in the country on September 10. The polls will be held under the new electoral law that allocates 41 seats to the 138-seat assembly.
Jordan has a bicameral parliament consisting of a senate appointed by the king and an elected lower house known as the House of Representatives.
