US President Donald Trump has threatened to take ‘ownership’ of the besieged Gaza Strip in Palestine. He said, Gaza is not for sale, we will occupy it.
Donald Trump made the remarks during a meeting with Jordan’s King Abdullah II, one of the Middle East’s closest allies, on Tuesday (February 11) local time.
Donald Trump told reporters from the Oval Office, ‘We are going to get Gaza. We don’t have to buy it. There is nothing to buy here. We are going to get Gaza. We are going to ‘occupy’ it. ’
Trump, however, denied that he would try to create private property in Gaza.
Trump had previously said that if ‘occupying Gaza’ were to happen, displaced Palestinians would not have the right to return there. However, he said today that the rebuilt land would be for the people of the Middle East.
He said, ‘We are finally going to start doing this, where there will be a lot of jobs for the people of the Middle East. It will be for the people of the Middle East. ’
He also said, ‘The Palestinians living in Gaza will be happy to leave. Because after more than a year of war following the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel, they are now living a “terrible life”. ’
The US President also said, ‘Look at how they are living now. No one in the world is living like that. They are living under buildings that have mostly collapsed or will collapse. People are dying every day. The situation is terrible. There is no worse situation in the world than the Gaza Strip. ’
Last week, the US President shocked the world by announcing the ‘occupation’ of Gaza. In a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, he proposed to make the devastated region the ‘Riviera of the Middle East’.
