Yogi Adityanath, the Chief Minister of BJP-ruled Uttar Pradesh, has said that Sanatan or Hinduism is the national religion of India. This hardline leader, who has turned from a saffron-clad Hindu priest to a politician, made this comment at a Hindu religious event on Friday.

According to a report by the media India Today, while addressing a discussion event of Peethadheeshwar Sridharacharya Maharaj in Ayodhya, Chief Minister Yogi said that if humanity has to be protected, then the only way is to respect Sanatan Dharma. If Sanatan Dharma is safe, then everyone in the world will be safe.

Yogi Adityanath also said that the protection of Sanatan Dharma is not only important for India’s spiritual identity, it is also essential for the welfare of humanity globally. It is our good fortune that our country is moving towards a developed, developed India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

At this time, Yogi Adityanath condemned the attacks on Hindu places of worship. He also claimed that similar attacks are taking place in Bangladesh. He said, look at what is happening in Bangladesh. What happened in Pakistan and Afghanistan before this? I want to know who were the people who destroyed the glorious places of Sanatan Dharma in the country and why did they do it?

Referring to the attacks on Hindu religious institutions in Bangladesh, Adityanath called it a ‘conspiracy to make the world hell’. He said that these barbaric acts—be it at Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya, Krishna Janmabhoomi in Mathura or Harihar Bhoomi in Sambhal—destroy, defile or pollute these temples. However, the descendants and successors of those who desecrated these temples will be destroyed. The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister said again that Sanatan Dharma is the only way that can establish world peace.

The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister also participated in the ‘Ashtottarastha-108 Shrimad Bhagwat Path, Panchanarayan Mahayajna’ in Ayodhya Dham. In a post shared on social media, he said, “May this Panchanarayan Mahayajna become the basis for the purification of the environment, the protection of India and the preservation of Sanatan Dharma, and may all Indians and followers of Sanatan Dharma derive its merits.”

Earlier, on January 22, 2024, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Ram Janmabhoomi temple in Ayodhya. After a verdict by the Supreme Court of India in 2019, this land of the historic Babri Masjid was handed over to Hindus.
