European Union (EU) leaders have decided to impose new sanctions on Iran. They claim that such a decision has been taken to curb the conflict that is spreading in the Middle East.

This decision was taken at the first meeting of the leaders of the 27 EU countries in Brussels on Wednesday local time.

According to the report, Israel has hinted at retaliating, but has not said anything about how it will take it. However, EU leaders condemned Iran’s attack at the meeting. At the same time, they reiterated their commitment to Israel’s security and urged all parties, including Lebanon, to avoid tensions.

At the meeting, summit chairman Charles Michel said, “We think it is very important to do everything to isolate Iran.” German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, on the other hand, said it was important that Israel “not respond to a major attack on its own.”

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Wednesday (April 17) that Israel will decide for itself how to defend itself, amid fears of an escalation of the conflict along Israel’s border. After Iran’s attack, Netanyahu said, “We will decide how to defend ourselves.” All necessary measures will be taken to protect themselves.
