At least 18 people were killed in a missile attack by the occupying Israeli forces on several military installations in central Syria. Another 37 people were injured.
State news agency SANA reported that these attacks were carried out around the city of Masyaf in Hama province on Sunday (September 8) local time.
On the other hand, the UK-based monitoring organization Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported that the number of people killed in Sunday’s attack was 26. There were five targets of the attack. Among them was a scientific research center. It is allegedly linked to the production of chemical weapons.
Based on ground information, SOHR also reported that 5 civilians, 4 members of Syrian government forces and 13 members of pro-Iranian groups were among the 25 killed. The other three bodies have not been identified.
The Israeli army declined to comment on foreign media reports on yesterday’s attack. However, the Syrian Foreign Ministry has criticized the attack as a “shameless aggression”. And according to Iran’s Foreign Ministry, this attack was a “criminal attack”.
Israel has admitted to carrying out hundreds of strikes in Syria over the past few years. The country claims that these attacks were carried out on Iran-related targets located in Syria. Israel has increased these attacks in Syria since the start of the Gaza war in October last year.
