New Delhi has been informed about the arrest of three Indians suspected of involvement in the killing of pro-Khalistan leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada, Indian External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal confirmed.

Along with this, he criticized the Canadian government. Canada has yet to provide any “conclusive or relevant evidence” regarding the case, it said. Jaiswal said this at the regular press conference on Thursday (May 9). NDTV.

The spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, We clarify the matter again. To date, we have not received any evidence or information from the Canadian administration on this matter. Rather, it seems that there is politics in the matter.

Reacting strongly to the arrest of Indian citizens, Randhir said, “We have been saying for a long time that separatists, extremists, and those involved in violent activities are getting a place in Canada’s political arena.” On the other hand, our diplomats are being threatened and prevented from working.

Jaiswal acknowledged that the two countries are currently engaged in discussions on issues such as the activities of pro-Khalistan elements and threats against Indian diplomats in Canada.

Earlier, Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar reacted angrily to the arrest of three Indians. The foreign minister said, we have heard about the arrest of Indians. The accused may work for a gang. But we are waiting to hear what the Canadian police have to say.

He further said, we have informed them of our opinion. Because they have given opportunity to organized crime from India especially Punjab to operate from Canada.

On May 3, Canadian police said three Indians were arrested from the city of Edmonton, Alberta, in connection with the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar. The police will now investigate whether these people are in contact with the Indian government.

Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar was killed in Canada in June last year. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau accused the Indian government in a speech in the parliament that the murder was involved.

Diplomatic tension arose between Canada and India after the Canadian Prime Minister’s complaint. New Delhi has also denied involvement in the murder.
