Restoring healthcare in Gaza is complex and challenging: WHO

The World Health Organization (WHO) chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has said that restoring health in Gaza will be complex and challenging.

After a 15-month-long invasion, the much-awaited ceasefire has come into effect in the besieged Palestinian territory of Gaza. The ceasefire has brought the joy of Eid to Gaza. Gazans are enjoying the joy. The head of the World Health Organization has already warned.

The head of the World Health Organization warned, “The journey ahead will be challenging for Gaza.”

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said, “The process of releasing hostages and prisoners has brought hope to millions of people whose lives have been destroyed by the conflict.”

He said, “This is a moment for which I have called and hoped.”

He added, “Addressing the huge health needs and restoring health in Gaza will be complex and challenging, given the scale of the destruction, operational complexity and constraints.” ’

Incidentally, after a 15-month-long aggression, a much-awaited ceasefire came into effect in the besieged Palestinian territory of Gaza on Sunday (January 19). On the first day of the ceasefire, Hamas released three female Israeli hostages. In exchange, the Israeli authorities released 90 Palestinian prisoners.
