Yahya Sinwar, the new head of the Palestinian armed group Hamas, was killed in an Israeli attack. The autopsy revealed more shocking information. How was Sinwar killed? The chief pathologist of Israel’s National Center of Forensic Medicine said in detail.
He said that Sinwar was killed by a shot in the head. After that, his right hand finger was cut off for DNA testing. This information has emerged in a report by the American media CNN.
According to the report, the Israeli soldiers cut off Sinwar’s finger to ensure his death. His DNA was later tested with that finger. Israeli forces already had Sinwar’s DNA samples, as he was imprisoned in the country until 2011.
Chen Kugel, chief pathologist at Israel’s National Center of Forensic Medicine, told CNN that DNA tests confirmed that the body belonged to Sinwar. First, the soldiers tried to confirm by looking at his teeth. But this could not be fully confirmed. Sinwar had a bullet wound on his head.
Chen Kugel also said the Hamas leader was hit by a tank shell. But he died from a bullet in the head.
A video of the killing of Yahya Sinwar has already surfaced on social media. The video shows two Israeli soldiers cutting off the left index finger of a corpse (claimed to be Yahya Sinwar).
CNN analyzed the video and said that initially there were five fingers on the left hand of the body, but later one finger was seen less.
The Israel Defense Forces announced the news of Sinwar’s death and said that on Wednesday (October 16) night, like other days, Israeli soldiers went out on patrol in the Tal al Sultan area of the southern part of Gaza. At that time, the soldiers killed three suspects and went back as they did that day. When they came to examine the victims the next morning, they found a match between one of them and Yahya Sinwar. A sample of his body was sent to Israel for identification. His body was later confirmed and taken to Israel.
IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari claimed that Sinwar was killed without knowing his identity. The event was not planned. Drone footage shows him sitting injured in a destroyed building before his death. However, their intelligence team had been working for several weeks to confirm his location. In other words, the Israeli forces had an idea that Sinwar Rafa is hiding somewhere.
Hamas also confirmed the death of Sinwar. In a statement on Friday (October 18), the group’s head of Gaza, Khalil Al Haya, said Yahya Sinwar was killed in fighting with Israeli forces in Gaza.
