UAE prepares to celebrate Eid with seven cannons

The Middle Eastern country of Dubai, United Arab Emirates, is going to start celebrating Eid in a slightly exceptional way. Like the previous years, this year also the city authorities will start Eid-ul-Fitr celebration with cannon fire. Meanwhile, cannons have been deployed in seven areas of the city.

Dubai Police confirmed the matter in a statement on Sunday (April 7).

According to a report by the media outlet Gulf News, the seven locations in Dubai where the cannons will be fired are – Grand Jabil Mosque, Nad Al Sibar Eidgah Maidan, Nad Al Hamar, Baraha, Al Barsa, Umm Suqeim and Hatta.

As soon as the moon of Eid-ul-Fitr is sighted, cannons will be fired two times in a row. After that, two more cannons will be fired at the beginning of Eid prayers.

The top officer of the UAE Army, Assistance Commander-in-Chief Major General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaiti, said that all preparations for the artillery fire have been completed.

Commander of the Artillery Operation Team Al Midfar, Lt. Col. Abdullah Tarish Al Amini, said that a team will be formed at each of the seven locations of the artillery barrage.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has urged citizens to sight the moon of the holy month of Shawwal next Monday (April 8) evening. The country’s Moon Darshan Committee made the call on Saturday (April 6).

Anyone who sees the moon is asked to contact 026921166 or visit the nearest court to record evidence. If the moon is sighted on Monday evening, the holy Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated in the country on Tuesday (April 9).

And if the moon is not seen on this day then the holy month of Ramadan will be completed for 30 days. The holy Eid will be celebrated in the country on Wednesday (April 10).
