After the Iranian attack, the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a meeting of the country’s war cabinet. In that meeting, the proposal of a plan to attack Iran with massive force was also approved. But later they backtracked.

The New York Times reported this information about three Israeli officials.

According to the news, Israel wanted to attack the country on a large scale last Friday in response to Iran’s three hundred missiles and drone attacks. The attack was also planned on a military base near Tehran, the capital of Iran. But later the Israeli government withdrew from that decision.

Due to diplomatic pressure from various allies including the United States, Israel canceled the decision to launch a major attack on Iran. Iran’s interception of almost all missiles and drones aimed at Israeli territory also served as a reason for not launching a massive attack.

On April 1, Israel launched an airstrike on the Iranian consulate in Syria. In response to this, on April 14, Israel targeted Tehran by firing more than three hundred drones and missiles. The Israeli forces claim to block 99 percent of those missiles and drones. A few days later, Israel launched a missile attack on the Iranian city of Isfahan in the early hours of Friday.

According to reports from Israeli officials, Israel’s Western allies did not want a large-scale war in the Middle East.

According to the New York Times report, Israel planned to launch a major attack on several Iranian military bases, including a military base near Tehran. It had the potential to spread conflict in the Middle East region. Such an attack would have been difficult for Tehran to avoid. As a result, the risk of a strong counter-attack on the part of the country would increase.

Israel’s Western allies did not want a large-scale war to spread in the Middle East, according to reports from Israeli officials. Therefore, US President Joe Biden urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to launch a massive attack on Iran. The Foreign Ministers of UK and Germany also made the same request. Because of this, Netanyahu canceled his plan.
