3 Bangladeshis were killed in a road accident in Malaysia’s Perak province. Another person was injured in this incident.

The accident took place after a collision with a lorry on the North-South Expressway in Kampar area of Perak state on Wednesday (April 10) afternoon.

Kampar police chief Nazri Daud said the car carrying eight people including the driver was going to Kuala Lumpur from Cameroon Highlands. When the tires of the moving vehicle burst, the driver lost control and the vehicle overturned before swerving into the lane and hitting the guardrail. Later a lorry pushed back.

He said three people died on the spot and another Bangladeshi was seriously injured in the accident. The remaining four passengers and the lorry driver escaped unharmed.

Nazri said the injured passenger has been sent to Tapah Hospital for treatment and the case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.

The country’s state media Bernama reported that the seven Bangladeshi victims of the accident were plantation workers in Cameron Highlands.
