Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has agreed to stop the ongoing violence in Gaza. The process of ending the war will begin once the first phase of the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement is completed. Several sources in the Palestinian armed organization Hamas confirmed this information to Al Arabiya. The Jerusalem Post reported on Saturday.

Al Arabiya reported that there has been a clear change in Netanyahu’s position. This indicates that the process of ending the war will begin once the first phase of the agreement is completed. A few days ago, the Lebanese-based media outlet KAN News reported that Qatar has sent a positive message to Israel. There, they said that Hamas is ready to discuss a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement. Al Arabiya published this report after KAN’s report.

A Hamas source also told KAN that the main talks will begin by avoiding some controversial issues in order to start negotiations centered on the ceasefire. Those issues will be discussed at a later stage. One such issue is the withdrawal of Israeli troops from the Philadelphia Corridor along the Egyptian border. Meanwhile, Israel continues its attacks on Gaza. 21 more Palestinians have been killed in the brutal attacks by the troops.

The loss of life occurred in the Israeli attacks that have been going on across the territory since early Friday morning local time. According to Al Jazeera’s report on Saturday, in addition to Gaza, the Israeli military has also carried out deadly attacks in Lebanon. At the same time, the Zionist country has also attacked Yemen. The Israeli military said that they attacked facilities controlled by Yemen’s Houthi fighters. Among the infrastructures targeted by the Israeli attacks are a power plant near the capital Sanaa and the ports of Hodeidah and Ras Issa.

More than 46,000 people have been killed in Gaza since October 2023. Millions more have been injured in this relentless attack. Palestinian health authorities believe that more than 10,000 people are still missing under the rubble of destroyed houses across the Gaza Strip. In addition, more than two million residents have been forced to flee their homes due to the Israeli aggression.

According to the United Nations, about 85 percent of the Palestinians in Gaza have been displaced by Israel’s brutal attack. And all of Gaza is now food insecure amid acute shortages of food, clean water and medicine. 60 percent of the infrastructure in the besieged territory has been damaged or destroyed. Israel has already been accused of genocide by the International Court of Justice. Despite a UN Security Council resolution demanding an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, Israel has continued its brutal attack on the besieged territory.

Meanwhile, a research report published in the medical journal The Lancet on Thursday said that the real number of deaths in Gaza is about 41 percent higher than the figures released by the health ministry in the Gaza Strip. Based on data from the ministry, online surveys and social media accounts of the deaths, the researchers estimate that the number of casualties from injuries in the first nine months of the war was between 55,298 and 78,525. The study’s best estimate is that 64,260 people died in Gaza. This means that the Gaza Health Ministry underestimated the number of deaths by 41 percent.
