Israel has finally withdrawn its troops from Al-Shifa Hospital, the largest hospital in the besieged Gaza Strip, after a two-week long, devastating and deadly operation. Israeli soldiers left the encampment, leaving Palestinian bodies scattered among the rubble and debris.

A statement from Israel’s military on Monday (April 1) announced the troop withdrawal.

Hundreds of residents flocked to the Gaza Strip’s largest hospital after Israeli troops left, Reuters reported. Residents of the surrounding residential areas turned out to witness the devastation of Gaza’s ruling group Hamas’ long-running conflict with Israeli troops.

The Israeli military said hundreds of gunmen were killed and captured in clashes in the hospital area during the two-week operation. Besides, they also seized a large amount of weapons and intelligence documents from the hospital. However, Hamas and medical staff have denied the presence of armed Palestinian fighters at Al-Shifa Hospital.

A spokesman for Gaza’s Civilian Emergency Services said Israeli forces killed two people as follows; Their bodies were found handcuffed in the rubble. Israeli soldiers used bulldozers to exhume the bodies buried in the hospital grounds.

Some videos from the Al-Shifa hospital area, which have been circulating on social media, show the bodies of many Palestinians lying in the hospital’s rubble and on the grounds. Some bodies are covered with dirty blankets.

The picture shows that the hospital building has been reduced to rubble. A deep hole has been dug outside the building. No building is intact. Either burned or mixed with soil.

“I couldn’t stop crying after I got here,” said Samir Bassel, who visited Al-Shifa Hospital. The occupying forces have carried out terrible massacres here. The area has been destroyed. Buildings were burned or razed. This place needs to be rebuilt. Shifa Hospital does not exist here.
