US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has arrived in Israel to “press” on a cease-fire in Gaza. Qatar-based news media Al-Jazeera reported this information in Friday’s report.

Earlier, he visited Saudi Arabia and Egypt to discuss the ceasefire.

Meanwhile, according to a report of Hurriyat Daily, the United States has proposed to the UN Security Council for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and the release of Israeli hostages. A vote on the proposal is scheduled for Friday.

Through this, the United States claims that the pressure on Israel to ensure humanitarian aid and the protection of civilians in Gaza will increase.

Earlier on Thursday, the country proposed a UN Security Council draft calling for the release of Israeli hostages and an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.

The draft resolution said an “immediate and effective ceasefire” of about six weeks would ensure the safety of civilians and allow for the delivery of humanitarian aid.

The draft resolution supports talks brokered by the US, Egypt and Qatar on a ceasefire. It emphasized the use of the ceasefire period to strengthen efforts towards a ‘lasting peace’.
