Hamas agreed to the ceasefire agreement, the message that Erdogan gave

Palestinian independence group Hamas has agreed to a cease-fire in Gaza. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan welcomed their proposal.

He said these things while talking to reporters after the Cabinet meeting in the capital Ankara on Monday (May 6). Khabar Daily Sabahar.

Erdogan said Türkiye’s efforts for a ceasefire had succeeded. Israel should do the same as Hamas. They should accept the offer of ceasefire and hostage release.

He said, “I call on all Western leaders to put pressure on the Israeli administration regarding the Gaza ceasefire.”

The Turkish president said, “We spoke on the phone with Ismail Haniyeh, chief of the political bureau of Hamas, before our cabinet meeting.” During our conversation with Haniyeh, we discussed efforts to end the conflict and violence in Gaza.

He also said Turkey has assessed Hamas’ acceptance of the ceasefire proposal reached through mediators.

Earlier on Monday, Hamas sources said the group had agreed to a Gaza ceasefire.

In a statement, the organization said, Ismail Haniya, head of the political wing of Hamas, agreed to a ceasefire in a phone conversation with Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani and Egyptian Intelligence Minister Abbas Kamel.

In addition to agreeing to a ceasefire, senior leaders of Hamas said that now the force is in Israel’s court. However, in the second phase, how long the ceasefire will last and what decision will be made about the release of hostages in Gaza have not been detailed.

Israeli authorities have not yet commented on Hamas’ acceptance of the ceasefire proposal.
