Imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that it was the biggest mistake to trust Pakistan’s former army chief General (retd) Qamar Javed Bajwa. He regretted this mistake while in power.

According to the report of Pakistan-based media The Dawn, Imran Khan, the founder of Tehreek-e Insaaf (PTI), said these things in a special interview given to journalist Mehdi Hasan. The interview was published last Wednesday.

Imran Khan said that General (retd) Bajwa has spread lies and untruths to remain as the army chief in the new term. PTI founder blamed him for this.

Imran Khan was asked who he would blame for his imprisonment. In response he said,
I am sure that this difficult task has been done by the General. I don’t blame anyone else. He did the job very well. By this he presented himself as an impostor. He was actually trying to secure his next term by spreading lies and misinformation and creating chaos nationally and internationally.

According to a Dawn report, Imran Khan extended General Bajwa’s tenure as army chief by three years while in power in 2019. Only 3 months left for retirement. Then in an interview in 2022, Imran regretted and said that extending the term like this was his big mistake.

When asked about the involvement of the United States in removing Imran from power, he said, “General Bajwa did all this.” He spread false information in my name. Presented me as an enemy of the country to the leaders of America.

In 2022, Imran Khan was forced to step down as Prime Minister in a parliamentary vote of confidence. He has been in jail since August last year. Accused in total four cases. However, in two of these cases, the prison terms have been quashed. Imran has always complained that the army is behind this situation. But the army denied his allegation.
